Examination

1. Module: (1) Financial Planning Fundamentals, (2) Investment Planning, (3) Insurance Planning, (4) Tax and Retirement Planning, and (5) The Process and Practice of Financial Planning.

2. Exam Type: 100 multiple-choice questions per module.

3. Language Medium: Chinese, or supplemented with English.

4. Pass Score: 60%. All five papers should be completed within five (5) years.

5. Exam requirement: RFP Professional Diploma Holder, RFPI Affiliate Member, and approved applicant under exemption policy.

Exemption Policy

According to related regulations of RFP International Board of Standards, Chinese candidates who comply with following requirements may apply parts or all modules of examination:

1. Holding International designations, e.g. CPA/ACCA/CGA, CFA, CFP, ChFC, CFC, RFC, CLU, LUTC, JD, LLM, PhD, etc.

2. Holding Chinese national certified or qualified designations, e.g. accountant, lawyer, economist, appraiser, etc.

3. Teaching in finance, economics, law and related fields at universities or higher education institutions with senior ranks.

4. Holding Chinese professional licenses with working experience in bank, insurance, securities, investment, accounting, real state, law and other related fields.

5. Having special experience or outstanding contributions in financial planning industry.

Membership Category

Student Member
Anyone is interested in financial planning and agrees to observe the RFP’s Code of Ethics, or taking RFP Professional Diploma Program, but not passed exams. No eligible right to use the designations.

Affiliate Member
Who has exempted or passed exams, but no enough experience. Use the designation of “ARFPI” only but not eligible for “RFP” yet.
As an Affiliate Member, you will receive:
- Your RFPI’s designation and membership card
- A subscription to the RFPI’s online newsletter

Ordinary Member
Who has exempted or passed exams with at least two (2) years relevant experience, Use the designation of “RFP” (Registered Financial Planner).
As an Ordinary Member, your will receive:
- Your RFPI’s designation and membership card
- Your RFP designation and wall certificate
- RFP logo stickers and lapel pin
- A subscription to the RFPI’s online newsletter
- Plus various other materials

Fellow Member
Ordinary Member must have more than five (5) years relevant post-admission experience. Use the designation of “SRFP” (Senior Registered Financial Planner).
As a Fellow Member, your will receive:
- Your RFPI’s designation and membership card
- Your RFP designation and wall certificate
- RFP logo stickers and lapel pin
- A subscription to the RFPI’s online newsletter
- Plus various other materials

Honorary Member
Nominated by a RFPI director and approved by the Board. Use the designation of “Hon.RFP” or “Hon.SRFP”.

Continuing Education

All members and RFP must complete a minimum of 10 hours per year of professional continuing education in the field of personal finance and professional practice management. This may include college courses, educational symposiums, credentialed courses, distance learning programs and practitioner conferences.

Code of Ethics

A RFP will only financial plan in their field of expertise and maintain the interest of the client first.

A RFP should maintain competency of practice by continuous education, training, study and experience.

A RFP is discouraged from making any misleading, false or unwarranted statements to a client or prospective client.

A RFP establishes personal responsibility for knowledge of the laws and regulations of the field in which their work for remunerations is involved.

A RFP will not accept and complete a financial planning assignment without having acquired the knowledge necessary to complete such assignments competently, unless the planner is associated with such a person who has the knowledge, and discloses the lack of knowledge to the client prior to accepting the assignment.

A RFP must disclose to the client the possibility of receiving compensation from sources other than the client if work is being performed on a fee basis, and the client acts upon your recommendation.

A RFP should report anyone who represents themselves as a member of the Institute and uses the RFP logo or designation fraudulently.

A RFP must not discriminate between race, creed or color for prospective client desiring the services of a member.

A RFP shall comply with any other code of ethics or/and laws as set forth by their particular state, region or country.
